GPU Intensive Effects
Entities with dynamic effects, like real-time lights or animated effects will cause a performance hit, so use them sparingly.

Use weapon pickups, lava, slime, water, teleporter effects, sprites, and all animated effect types sparingly. They do contribute to GPU processing. Large amounts of animated effects and lighting effects can slow down a map. Huge areas of animated brushes like lava, water, and slime also contribute to the same small degradations of performance as animated effects. Anything animated will take GPU power to render in real time. I am not saying they cannot be used just do not create a football stadium sized room where the floor is covered with lava.
